Kyrsten Sinema’s ‘Grammy-worthy’ attire at the State of the Union address has sparked heated controversy.

Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema, who recently defected from the Democratic Party and faces an uphill re-election battle, once again garnered attention with her presence at Tuesday night’s State of the Union address.

Ms. Sinema was spotted at the event laughing with Sen. Mitt Romney and standing to cheer a phrase from President Joe Biden while wearing a bright yellow dress. Ms. Sinema made her first State of the Union address since she departed the Democratic Party at the beginning of the year.

Reactions to the dress were divided on social media, with many users suggesting that perhaps she had mistaken the occasion for the Grammy Awards, which took place earlier this week.

Some harsher critics saw parallels between the bright yellow design and the yellow Teletubby or Big Bird from Sesame Street.

Ms. Sinema was grouped with Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who was compared to Cruella De Vil because of her white coat with a dramatic fur collar.
