Disney Announces Sequels to Their Famous Three Franchises
Toy Story 5, Frozen 3 Movie, and Other Films Are Coming Soon The Walt Disney Company has issued a statement in response to the matter.
During today’s earnings call for the business’s first quarter, Disney CEO Bob Iger stated that the company is working on sequels to the films Frozen 2, Toy Story 4, and Zootopia.
“I’m thrilled to share the news that our animation studios are hard at work on sequels to some of our most beloved films, including Toy Story, Frozen, and Zootopia. More information about these upcoming shows will be forthcoming. Iger remarked, “This is a terrific example of how we’re using our industry-leading brands and franchises” (via Deadline.)
It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise given the universal acclaim and financial success of all three series, but here we are. The most recent episodes of all three franchises have together earned over one billion dollars in box office receipts, and all three have been nominated for the Academy Award for best Animated Feature.
When compared to the returns of Disney’s most recent original feature film, Strange World, which made less than $74 million worldwide in theaters, it makes sense for Disney to return to these large franchises for the production of new sequels. This is especially true now that Disney has implemented a variety of new strategies for reducing costs.
